Question by : Is it true the Queen has a super luxurious nuclear fallout shelter with provision for fifty years?
I am picking up buzz on the internet that the Queen's engineers have built her a shelter able to resist atomic and asteroid impacts. It is three kilometers below the surface of Balmoral and floats in a pool of mercury in order to absorb deep impact shocks and to sheild from radiation. The reports I have seen indicate supplies of the finest foodstuffs for 50 years for at least 100 people. Recreational facilities such as a full olympic pool, artificial ski slope, spa with massage attendants, several movie and performance theaters as well as a bays filled with state of the art communications and military hardware and special survival wagons designed to be lifted to the surface along one of three counterweighted shafts so even if the electricity gives out they can reach the surface one things clear. I could go on, but I have seen this report fleetingly on the net before the site went down due to denial of service. Anyone else picking up buzz on this?

You forgot the endless supply of crystal meth. Until that facility is actually needed for the Queen it is actually a meth lab. Think of all that room they have for just meth. It puts you in awe does it not?

In an extraordinary bit of government back scratching the Eisenhower Administration, via the Architect of the Capitol, negotiated to build the structure on the grounds of the Greenbrier Hotel; a five star resort located five hours south of Washington in White Sulphur Springs, W. VA. In exchange for government financing of the Greenbrier’s West Virginia Wing addition, the hotel permitted the simultaneous construction of the shelter beneath it. This provided the initial cover story for the digging of the congressional hideaway. Ground was broken in 1957 and the Greenbrier employee newsletter noted the occasion by “informing” staff that “testing” was being conducted for the new wing.
I believe that the UK has a fallout shelter with a lot of features, but it is certainly intended for high level government officials as well as the royals. I doubt that it is quite as elaborate as you describe. The USA government has much more trouble keeping top secret projects like this under wrap since the end of the cold war.
