We loved this thermometer and it was perfect for our use. However, it began taking on water (on the inside of the dial) within 48 hours, and within 30 days, it was malfunctioning–reading the pool temp about 10 degrees warmer than actual. Obviously, not a well engineered pool thermometer!

I’m not sure why this items appears under the “toy” category, it’s a pool thermometer.

I like that it floats with the temperature always in view – you don’t have to hoist it up to read. I’d like it better if the numbers were bigger, but the 2″ dial is still pretty easy to read. There are some shaded areas (yellow = warm; blue = cold) that help you identify the temperature range at a glance, but the ranges are rather wide.

Mine has worked accurately for a number of months, despite taking on water right after one of my guess started tossing it in the air for fun (evidently it looks like a toy to them too…). He threw it pretty high, and it went underwater several feet.

I’m glad I bought it, but I wish it were sealed better against leakage.
